W is for Weekends

Saturday and Sunday are the two shortest days of the week. They are never long enough, Monday sneaks up to begin the work and school week before you realize that the weekend ever began. It is a time for outings with the baby.

The chance to go to the park, out to eat or window shop is something that we haven't done in months. Slowly we are getting back into the habit of going out to do things just because we can. It is nice to be able to go out with the baby, just the two of us and be able to drive.

The invitations to church came early on, and we gave it a try. The jury is still out on whether or not we'll continue to go. It all depends on how the baby does with the crowd on a continuing basis.

Another perk is the ability to allow the baby to watch Saturday mornign cartoons, what there is left of them anyway. I noticed recently that “Land of the Lost” is now on; I vaguely remember it from when I was a child and the baby seems to enjoy it. She also enjoys the covered porch and riding her bicycle down the sidewalk.

Sunny days are rather enjoyable with the morning sun giving just enough warmth to make it pleasant outside. It is nice to be able to open the windows let in the fresh air while I sit and watch the baby play. I should consider an outdoor table set so we can have lunch out there on pretty days. The warmer weather means more picnics, since we are no longer waiting for appointments we will be having them in the park and on the front porch.

Weekends are now reserved for me and my little girl to have fun. We are rather enjoying ourselves.

This was a sweet post. Thanks for sharing a picture of life with your baby. Quite true weekends go by quickly. I'm now at the point of my life where almost nearly every day feels like a weekend. :-)

The days do go faster than you ever imagined once you aren't waiting for something to come along don't they.

C is for Calm

It's been so long that I'm not sure what it is anymore but I think I'm beginning to find calm. It is the feeling that allows you to find contentment in the smallest things. It does not have to be something major, it can be something as simple as a gentle breeze. There are a number of things that have a calming effect; I look forward to being able to do them. What are they? I'll tell you in no particular order. Walking on the beach. Drinking a beer by a bonfire. Sitting in front of a fireplace. Reading a book. Spending time alone just thinking or writing just to write. Calm is a nice feeling, and one that has been missed the last few years. Slowly it is returning that is why C is for calm.

Flash in the Pan Playing Along Still

The pages were bent and ragged from years of use, covers worn out from hands rubbing over them. There were bowls everywhere, the oven was still hot. She tasted it again, something wasn’t right. It was sweet, tangy but not right. What was missing? She scanned the room again to see. Onions maybe? No, but what could it be? She hit her head on the cabinet. A pepper that was it!
